Jean-Marc Leger, EPC

Financial Advisor, Independent Life Insurance Advisor

Jean-Marc was born in Montréal and grew up mainly in Québec City as the eldest in a family of six children.  He went to College in Chicoutimi and returned to Québec City to attend Laval University.

Jean-Marc has spent all of his working life with the public, for the public.

Initially, he worked in the operations management of various movie theatres with a major exhibitor chain in Québec City, Trois-Rivières and Toronto for seventeen years. The Toronto stint began in 1983 when he accepted an offer to transfer from ‘La Belle Province’ “mainly to learn English”.  Eventually he oversaw ten different locations in the GTA.

A Financial Services Industry representative recognized Jean-Marc’s public relations skills and asked him to join the industry.  After careful consideration, he accepted the challenge in late 1993 and never looked back.

When asked about the parallels between the two careers, his answer is simple: “As a manager of people (clients or employees), in small or large operations, I quickly realized that the key to success is to treat others and yourself with respect.  Only then can you start the process of understanding and fulfilling your clients’ needs. This foundation enables one to face the future and the inevitable transitions with confidence, regardless of how difficult or unexpected the challenge may be.”

In brief, four words describe his motto in life:   Transitions, Respect, Conscience and  Confidence.

“In both careers, you must listen, learn, analyse, teach and motivate.  Both deal with people, emotions, dreams and money.  Both require processes, patience, integrity and trust.”

Jean-Marc’s transition was in fact seamless. He continued his learnings through various transitions for a decade with one of the major Insurance Companies in Canada. He joined a team of independent brokers in early 2004 as an associate advisor. He obtained his EPC designation (Elder Planning Counselor) in the fall of 2005.  In July 2008 Jean-Marc founded Leger Financial.  Jean-Marc has chosen to focus his practice and expertise on:  Family transitions, Elder planning, Retirement planning and Insurance solutions.  Typically, his clients acknowledge the importance of planning.

Jean-Marc lives in Toronto with his wife Lucita and their son Emmanuel.  He loves to play hockey, golf, travel and is a long time Toastmaster with a francophone club in Toronto.  He also devotes time to the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Canadian Blood Services; he has given more than 190 donations to date. He particularly enjoys observing the intricacies of human nature, especially while traveling.

Jean-Marc’s capacity to listen and observe is integral in his ability to make astute recommendations, financial and otherwise.

“After all, we’re all here for a purpose…

What is yours?  Need help to find out?”
